Specialty Gas Distribution Equipment for Mexico

Specialty gases can be no more workable than the devices tasked to propagate them. The purity and precision these gases offer are likely to be reduced should they not be supported by proper pressure and flow control and lacking the provisions to substantiate gas usage.

Since few would contest that compressed gases, because of their nature, are best shipped in high-pressure gas cylinders, managing that pressure in conventional use is oftentimes an afterthought. There are important differences between cylinder regulators created for oxy-fuel cutting and welding, typical purge gas applications, and specialty gas use.

The PurityPlus® gas pressure-reducing regulators and flowmeters we have for you at AOC Mexico S.A. de C.V. present a level of quality in materials, design, and assembly that distinguishes them from the usual industrial gas equipment. While pricier, this equipment commonly carries a value that far outstrips its price. PurityPlus® regulators, for example, generally use diaphragms made of stainless steel rather than rubber. Rubber diaphragms have a natural tendency to pick up moisture and impurities, then off-gas the contaminants as the cylinder supply pressure falls. This can be very detrimental to proper carrier gas flow and instrument response.

Similarly headache-inducing is the problem of crawl. As the pressure in a gas cylinder is reduced, the pressure on the diaphragm is also lessened, and the outlet pressure can increase. To compensate for this action and contain its effects, it is unequivocally advised that a two-stage PurityPlus® regulator be used. The manufacturer presets the first-stage pressure reduction, usually between 300-500 psig, leaving the user to  monitor the final outlet pressure in the second stage. Setting an intermediate pressure weakens the crawl effect by the second stage so  it’s just about done away with until the cylinder pressure dives below 150-200 psig.

Now, by way of contrast, consider an industrial gas single-stage regulator. Because of the single-stage design, the single diaphragm undergoes a uninterrupted lowering of supply pressure along with a gradual but nonstop rise in outlet pressure that could vacillate as much as 10-15 psig.

These are just a couple of examples that show clearly why the right gas also demands the right gas equipment. Contact us online or get in touch with us, AOC Mexico S.A. de C.V., at 818-647-7427 . We not only have the right gases and the right equipment with the right options for you, but we also have the right answers to any question you might have about specialty gas control.
